Re: How do you correct behavior??
LovelyLew,
Rule #1 - get rid of all your carpet and use tile
Rule #2 - Spend $19.99 on one of these

Rule #3 - Vacume your little heart out, I do it twice a day!
LOL

Re: How do you correct behavior??
The ceiling extenders seem like a perfect solution.
ClaireBear, how do you keep your floor so clean? I'm impressed! LOL So many large cages too. I feel like I'm constantly vacuuming - lol - and I only have the 1 large bird. Just got a Vision cage for the tiels, and it's really nice to keep the area clean.

Re: How do you correct behavior??
Try hanging the boing from a piece of chain and put a foot long piece of pvc tube over the chain. This should create a barrier that he can't climb up. You could also use a paper towel cardboard tube but I imagine that won't last long with a chewer.
Re: How do you correct behavior??
they also have a spray that is harmless to bird, you spray the area that they chew and when they go to chew it has a bad taste and it stops them from going to that area again. you just have to shop online or birdstores near you not all stores carry it
Re: How do you correct behavior??
Ronda, I purchased a thing called a "ceiling extender" from theperchstore.net and it works fabulous. Well worth the $20.

Re: How do you correct behavior??
Thank you Janice!!!! I probably will have to lol, he loves to chew the rafter, he already chew through the wire that was on there for the ceiling fan, it has been UNPLUGGED since we got him just in case he decided to chew it, so he wouldn't get shocked lol. We of course have to get new wire and re-route it so he can't get to it lol.

Re: How do you correct behavior??
Goffins are chewers. You might need to put something at the top of the boing so that he can't reach the ceiling.

How do you correct behavior??
Casper is now 14 weeks and I have a question. I have his boing hanging from the ceiling and he will go to the tippy top and start chewing on the ceiling. It is actually hooked to a rafter we have on our ceiling. We tell him no no no very firmly, sometimes he listens and others he just ignores us and that's when we take him off of it and move him somewhere on his playstand to get his mind off of it. Is there anything else I can be trying?
And before anyone asks I am uploading as we speak some new videos of him and sweetheart! As soon as I can get them loaded I will post them!
Thanks everyone!
