The Many Colors of the Ringneck

Hello,

I have a blue male and a green female. The ring neck is a pretty easy bird to breed. They have a good sex drive and will have 2 to 3 clutches a year of 3 to 5 eggs. They will be active in the spring, late summer to fall, and in the mid to late winter. You should know that ringnecks are the only true parakeet (along with the alexadrian) and they are very good pets but can be very nasty, nippy, hormonal, cranky and emotional at times. This is a species that realy should have the tag line as a BI-POLAR species. They can be very lovable then on a flip of a hat turn to a bitting nasty little pain in the butt. I have had ringnecks and Alexandrians for years and just love them to death, but people need to know the other side of a ringneck. They are in the hook bill family and the bite can be very hard and nasty when wanted. The colors are just stunning and there are some real nice looking color combo's you get with the different colors of the breeders. Have fun with them and enjoy them. Just watch for the body language and know when a strike is in the works. They hurt.

Mario- I just wondered what color are your Indian Ringnecks?
Are they pretty easy to breed? A friend of mine is thinking of getting a pair of the blue ones. I've never had any but I hear they make wonderful pets.

They are goregous. I really like the grey.

Everything is great here, it is getting dark earlier and of course the days aren't so warm anymore. Winter is approaching fast. I unfortunately get winter blues. I dislike the bare trees and the cold weather. I feel sorry for Mischief I am too scared to put him outside as the breeze is very cool. I have his cage against a window in the lounge that gets sun and no draft, but he misses being outside. I must tell you he has started clicking like I do when I go to the cage. But he is a real clown. He bobs uo and down when he wants to be picked up and he runs across the floor in a crouch. he has stopped biting my earrings and he actually listens quite well too. Love this like hooligan a lot.

How are you keeping? I can not believe how alike you and your Dad are. Nice that you share similar interests.

I almost got a slate(grey) one from a bird fair, but I missed the fair and she sold him...dang it!
