Re: Swollen foot
It's good you took her in to see the vet. Even if there is nothing wrong at least it will set your mind at ease knowing you've done everything you can for her. I hope it proves to be nothing serious.

Re: Swollen foot
Well that is good Michelle, keep us updated on what he says on Monday. And I didn't know it was broke at birth, that could very well be it than. Hopefully that's all that it is!
Re: Swollen foot
no, its not hot to th touch... she is in no pain, trust me we would know haha... when adannas under the weather she lets us know by sticking by greig like glue for cuddles and kisses... Got her an appointment at the vets on monday, to be fair, that foot always has been a little bigger, it was the one that was broken at birth... so maybe it isnt actually hurt?? I dont know, either way, im taking her to the vets... she likes the vets anyway, she thinks its fun haha.. Unless he checks her throat in her annual M.O.T lol xx

Re: Swollen foot
Hi Michelle,
I agree with the others, swelling in a birds foot can have many simple explanations and some not quite so simple. So really you need to get Adanna to the vet in the next couple of days if it doesnt go down. Let us know how she gets on

Re: Swollen foot
I agree with Berna, I would wait maybe a day and see if there was a difference and try to get her in to see a vet. Is where it's swollen hot to the touch? If so there is an infection/inflammation. Birds will show signs of hurt as a very very last resort, it is a weakness to them to show it unless they are finally down and can't help but to show it. Catching it early is the key if there is anything wrong! Keep us updated though please!!
Re: Swollen foot
I would say you need to take her to the vet right away. Swelling would indicate there is ether injury, infection or something cardiovascular...none of which are things to put on the back burner.
Swollen foot
Hi all...
Noticed this morning adannas back claws/feet/talons lol are swollen.. if anyone knows me from greyforums, its the same foot she had the little pressure sore on... The one she had wore the padding away on ps, thats better now
It wasnt like that last night, i showered her and would have noticed
shes not in any pain i dont think, and is still using it perfectly well... but it is noticibly bigger than her other foot, i would say twice the size
Greig thinks im being silly, and has suggested she might have caught her nail on a toy or something, and said i should leave it a while..
What do we all think? If it looks swollen how long am i meant to wait before i take her to the vet? I know this sounds silly, but when a human has a swollen ankle etc, we use something frozen to help it along.. But as shes a baby parrot, and s on her feet all the time by nessacity, is there anything i can do?
Thanks xxxx
