Hi AKFrost,
I'm new here too but thought I'd say hi.
I just adopted an Umbrella Cockatoo. So far, he(I think) loves everybody. I've only had him for about a week. I'm hopeful that he will stay this sweet. No one seems to know how old he is though.

Hello AKFrost, welcome here! Sorry to take so long for someone to reply to your post. Sounds like you may have your hands full with this new cockatoo. Does your husband help with any of the everyday tasks involving your new too, for instance, feeding or cleaning her cage? I'd say if he doesn't, he should try to get more involved with her when you are not around. Perhaps she'd change her tune towards him if he is the only option for getting out of her cage when momma isn't home. It may be that you will be the only one who can handle her though and I hope this will be acceptable to everyone in your household. I wonder if she will get along with Manu once she is out of quarantine? Keep us updated!

Hi,
Stumbled across this site and now I am hooked! My husband and I have a Blue and Gold Macaw (Manu) he will be 3 years old in April. We spent a long time doing research and looking for the species we wanted and we could not be happier! He has been a great addition to our family.
Now we have been researching Cockatoos and decided to rehome a 14 year old Sulpher Crested Cockatoo (Sydney). We went to visit her several times as well as talking with our avian vet before making the decision. Well now we have brought her home and are in the quarantine stage, But she has decided that she will no longer tolerate anyone but me although she was very friendly during our visits. She now bites my husbands and runs after him to attack. She also does this to my son who is 21.
This is how I found your site during an internet search. I am looking forward to reading others posts and maybe some of their solutions. Very Happy
