That's great! Like I said just don't let them have the upper hand. Glad you did it! Like I said though just be careful if she turns to nipping, still try to be firm though.

If she doesn't bite Amberli I would make her step up. Keep going at her with a firm hand and let her know that if she doesn't step up onto your hand she will get knocked off the perch. It just makes them feel that way, like they are going to get knocked off if they don't step up. They have to know who is boss and who won't take any crap from them. Just be careful with the bites. But as soon as a bird knows it has the upper hand it is very hard to reverse it. And to try doing this when your mom is in another room or not even home would be better. Being that the bird is bonded more to your mom right now.

And nice pic of the hug! That is sweet! Just remember though too that Cockatoo's are known to choose one person normally and sometimes be very defensive of them.

Ok, My cookatoo snuggle, will only come out of the cage for my mom, she can't take her our till 3pm when she get home, but all my bird usually get out of their cages around 8 or 9 am(The earlist get out at 6:20 am and that my bird and I left him out b/f I go to school!) Now I feel so sad for her while the other bird are playing she in her cage! I've tried "Step up." and everything I can thing of, she just would come out! But she a great bird when my mom comes home and let her out!

Noted... she never bits when I try to take her out she just won't come!
