Give her a bath if she likes one or mist her with a spray bottle and that will usually make them preen at some point during that day.
A molt is like when a dog sheds. She will molt out old feathers and new ones will grow in their place, it will look like a white little stick and hard that sticks out of their body, sometimes you can see them and if it's like our Quaker Molly sometimes her head is full of them especially around this time of year. The shealth (little white hard thing) falls off and than the new feather opens. Here is a link to tell you more about it. And don't worry about asking questions, that's what this place is here for!

Hi! It's possible that she will fix them herself when she preens. If they are too tattered then they might just look that way for awhile. Eventually she'll go through a molt and lose those ratty feathers and grow some beautiful new ones. Just look at it as a sign of her individuality for now- something she may grow out of as she matures!!
If it makes you feel any better, when Lyric was a clumsy baby he was always falling off of things and ended up breaking off every one of his tail feathers. Eventually they all grew back but he sure did look funny for a while there without any tail at all!

Lyric- Can't touch this!

How do I fix my too's tail feathers?
My U2 tail feathers look awful! They are all tattered and just look really rough. I give her a bath, I went and bought some of this spray with gland oil in it, that was recommended by my Vet, but it dose not seem to be helping. I have all her perches away from her tail, so she can't rub it on any of them.
Any ideas?????
