That's kind of what I did. They sell a 15 bean mix at the store here and I bought a pack of that and you soak them for 2 days than leave them out to sprout for a day. It's really cheap to do actually just takes a few days lol. But she really only gets them here and there and not as her every day diet.

I bought a soaking mix from a website one time. It was quite expensive for what I got, so I then went to the supermarket and bought most of the ingredients and made it up myself. Its lots of different types of beans, rice, wheat etc. Oisin (grey) and Beaker (caique) LOVE them. They would eat them as a diet by itself which of course I dont allow. But they only need soaking overnight so its much easier than sprouts!

Not a problem Kimmie. I still use Sprouts for SweetHeart for they are a good nutrition for them, but now she only gets them mainly as treats, cause she loves them very much. She actually loves to peel them lol. She doesn't really eat a whole lot of them, and they are time consuming really when they take 3 days to sprout. Well not really time, but just that it takes 3 days to make a batch. You will find too that your baby seems to just pick through and doesn't really eat much of it, don't worry he will pick up that some of those things taste good lol. SweetHeart at 10 months is still doing that!

This is a link to a very good article posted by a DVM. It is all about the feeding four our birds. I had posted it in another section here on the forum for eating, but after I read it all the way through I wanted it to be here somewhere else. Because I have heard allot of new people getting their first birds ask many of the questions that she answers in this article. I hope everyone finds it helpful. And of course everyone can make their own moderations on how much they want to use these ideas in their life.
