Re: Info..
Jen, I have an eclectus and a goffin's. It depends what you are looking for in a bird in what would be the best option for you. Eclectus are known to be the best birds for allergy sufferers, they do not have dust and their feathers are more like hair than feathers. Mine smells more honey like than dusty as the too does. My eclectus is much more independent. He enjoys hanging out vs. being touched or cuddled. He does not like to be petted as much. He is however very charming, speaks incredibly well (much better than a too). The goffin is a big cuddlebug and wants to be on my lap CONSTANTLY . While both can be unpredictable with kids, I would say that a goffin would probably be a better option. Eclectus tend to bond to one person more. He does not really allow anyone else to handle him at all without enduring a nip. Now keep in mind that I am just one opinion, there are probably a million other people who could tell you differently. I spend a lot of time on www.landofvos.com. It is an eclectus specific forum. You may want to check it out. Hope it helps some!

Re: Info..
Well they can be noisy and it doesn't matter how much attention you give them that's just their nature. They mostly do it in the morning and the evenings. As for the dust, all birds have dust, just some have more. And Cockatoo's are known to be very dusty! BUT baths weekly and even twice or three times a week will help big time! You can always get an air purifier or just run the fan on your furnace and let the filters catch the dust that way as well. Just make sure the bird isn't in any draft from it. But even our Quaker and our African Grey are pretty dusty if they miss their showers, so just something for you to think about.
Crazy..
Thanks guys,I have still been doing my research and talked to some other breeders, boy some of them are really against cockatoos and said an Eclectis would be better for us.i am going to go crazy if I keep reading I think. My husband suffers from season allergies,we have a long haired cat and long haired dog and he is fine. But they said that the dust from the Goff is going to bother him.
