Re: Recipes for our Parrots/Birds
On one weekend I typically will cook the majority of my food for the month. I get one of those 13 bean soup mixes from the grocery store (I throw out the seasoning packet that comes with it), I will soak overnight and then cook. I cook up some quinoa, wheat pasta, frozen mixed veggies, and whatever else misc. items I think would be good. Cook it all accordingly, mix it together and pack it into ice cube trays and freeze for the day. I then empty all of the trays into a zip lock baggy and freeze. Then each morning I will take out 1 cube per bird, let it thaw while I am at work in a tupperware in the fridge, and warm before feeding. Makes it easy when I am tired after work to make sure that the birdies get what they need. I always add fresh fruit at feeding time and I actually found at a health food store, so organic frozen fruit that I will thaw in the fridge during the day and feed with it. They eat their big meal at night but in the morning I cut up apple and hang from birdie skewers from the top of their cages. This is their fresh menu, they have a seed mixture, Fruit Zupreem (I am going to get some of the natural too now, thanks to Ronda's info), Cash gets Birdelicious too. This is what is available at all times. One Sunday mornings, we eat scrambled or hard boiled eggs w/cheddar cheese on top, and some organic whole grain toast w/flaxseed on top (I eat scrambled, bacon, and white toast , just in case someone wants to make it for me)

Re: Recipes for our Parrots/Birds
Oh no.... you did it now! All this talk about food has made me hungry! Drats! Kibibi doesn't get very many home cooked meals especially for her but she does get to share my meals. She likes all types of veggies (raw and especially cooked) but especially the ones that she has to open such as green beans, peas, etc. She also likes eggs (hard boiled & scrambled... haven't tried spinach with it but that's a great idea), loves oatmeal and loves pasta. And I haven't found a piece of fruit that she doesn't like. I've tried a couple of the Kaytee Kitchen Creations but it was mostly a waste. She would pick out what she wanted (mostly the pasta) and leave the rest of it uneaten.
Wow, http://www.parrotrecipes.com looks like a good collection of recipes. Nice find Ronda I'll have to add that to my links page.

I have to admit, I won't cook a 4 course meal for my kids so I definitely wont do it for the birds. It can be quick and nutrititious cant it? What do you guys cook for your birds?

Good idea girl! And those are very simple, I will have to try them!
Re: Recipes for our Parrots/Birds
I think we should tell each other what we cook for our birds? Some of the "recipes" sound more complicated than I would cook for my kids!
My guys favourite is oatmeal made on water... nothing added at all. Another one they love is scrambled egg and spinach. I get the frozen spinach. You can take out a "ball" of spinach at a time and I just microwave it with the egg... yumm!
